The Disco Godfather Theatrical Poster The Disco Godfather Theatrical PosterWe're back! Who know's for how long, but what the hell, let's take it as it comes!

As a welcome back gift, we present a true drive-in blaxploitation classic. Disco, as only the masterful Rudy Ray Moore can present, here he is, in all his glory, Rudy Ray Moroe as the "Disco Godfather!"

Disco Godfather (also known as The Avenging Disco Godfather) (1979) Starring Rudy Ray Moore and Carol Speed, directed by J. Robert Wagoner and released by Transvue Pictures.

The plot revolves around Moore's character, a retired cop, who owns and operates a disco, (seems like a likely career choice for a retired cop...), and who tries to shut down the local angel dust dealer after his nephew gets "whacked out" on the drug.

While searchig for the bad guys, he still finds time to manage the Blueberry Hill and perform. "Put a little slide in yo' glide," he exclaims to the patrons, "Put your weight on it, put your weight on it, put your weight on it!"

Rudy tracks down the kingpin that is behind all the angel dust production, but not before he is kidnapped and forced to inhale PCP through a gas mask!

Keep your eyes peeled for the debut of Keith David, who has an unbilled bit part as a patron in the nightclub.

One note: Rudy Ray Moore and his characters, such as Dolemite, and the role he plays here, The Disco Godfather, served as an inspiration for parts of Michael Jai White's "Black Dynamite." See if you can recognize any of his inspiration.

All right boys, and girls, get ready to "Put your weight on it!"
