captain_america_poster_01 captain_america_poster_01We are happy to present a poster for "Captain America"! No, not the one that's in the theaters right now... Um no it's not set in World War II, well, partially, but see, it's set mostly in the 1990s, and Captain America has a shield that apparently dents easily, and um... no, Chris Evans and Tommy Lee Jones aren't in it, but Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox are, and ... No, he doesn't squeal like a pig, but... Wait! Come Back! Please? SOB!

Story Line (IMDB): During World War II, a brave, patriotic American Soldier undergoes experiments to become a new supersoldier, "Captain America." Racing to Germany to sabotage the rockets of Nazi baddie "Red Skull", Captain America winds up frozen until the 1990s. He reawakens to find that the Red Skull has changed identities and is now planning to kidnap the President of the United States.

Box Office Gross (IMDB): $10,173 (UK)

DVD Review: Switchblade Sisters (1975) PDF Print E-mail

Switchblade_Sisters_Poster Switchblade_Sisters_PosterSwitchblade Sisters was a 1975 Chixploitation movie that didn't do well during its initial release. It went into the drive-ins and grindhouses for a week, sold some popcorn, and immediately went on the 2nd and 3rd feature circuit. One person who didn't overlook it was Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino is on record as saying Switchblade Sisters is one of his all time favorite movies. He grabbed the rights to the movie and re-released it to the theaters in limited distribution a few years back. He has also released it on DVD on his "Rolling Thunder Pictures" label. The DVD reviewed here is the "Rolling Thunder" release.

The Switchblade Sisters revolves around "The Dagger Debs" an all-girl gang led with teeth baring intensity by "Lace" (Robbie Lee), the baddest meanest female gang leader since Black Canary was in charge of the Justice League. It's a good thing she's tough, because she dresses like a disco band reject, and when she bears her teeth she looks like an angry beaver, plus when she talks it's like being threatened by Rainbow Brite talking through clenched teeth.

Thanks for visiting our site here at "Big Bad Drive-In". Yeah, I know, we should've grabbed the domain name that had the hyphen in it too. We'll get around to it...

"Big Bad Drive-In" is going to be your go to spot for reviews of the types of movies that would have played at your local drive-in back in the 50s up thru the 80s. Most drive-in theaters are gone now, replaced by shopping malls and car dealerships, but the memories still remain.

We'll mostly review movies from the "golden" age of B-Movies, the 50s up thru the early 80s, but we'll also review current releases, those of the type that would have appeared at your local passion pit if they'd been produced back then. Now days they go directly to DVD, or late night on Cinemax or The Movie Channel.
